The only one of her siblings to graduate from high school Lillian was a long-time resident of Hyattsville, Prince Georges County, MD from the late 1950s until the 1990s. She had taken a special course in Caligraphy as a young adult and was known by all she corresponded with as having beautiful penmanship. Unlike most of her siblings she and her brother Eli were long-time Republicans.212

Although she and I were very close while growing up I did not speak to my aunt Lil for many years, even prior to my mother’s death. But I know she resented that I followed my mother’s wishes to be cremated and not to have a memorial service.
I believe my aunt Lil purchased several headstones for members of her family, including the one for her brother Melvin.3
