Wilbur Lines Jr. (b. 1939) knew Ward and a few of his other siblings. He recalled that Ward was a little crippled and had a problem walking and used to drink a lot.1332

Ward had it rough. He was on his own since about the age of fourteen and suffers with Cerebral Palsy. He lived in Denver. The last time his cousin Daniel saw him was about six years ago [2010]. He needed some kind of surgery and returned home. As of June 2016, no one has heard back from him and no one knows how to contact him. Ward has no children.51

Ward was riding a bus in his travels to return to Denver and spoke to his cousin Kathy on the phone telling her he’d call when he got to his destination. But no one ever heard from him. There is speculation that Ward died or was killed somewhere on his return trip to the west.1333

The story is told that Ward was once hitch-hiking to California when he was picked up by a pervert who tried to molest Ward holding a gun on him in a car. Ward claimed he fought his attacker, took the gun away and shot and left the assailant in the car.51
