In a letter written by his father Christian in 1813. Peter who was eighteen at the time and completing his studies at Fulneck, was described as “better versed in classical, literature, mathematics, even the higher branches of it than any young men I have known at our schools.” Peter also was “a very good performer on the Organ & Pianoforte,” and his father was thankful that “all my children have musical souls.”
