Misc. Notes
Larry didn’t know his dad during the first three years of his life as his father was serving in the South Pacific during World War Two.

Larry served in the Army from July 1962 to Aug 1982 and retired at the rank of SFC E-7. At the time of his retirement he was a Platoon Sgt (of actually 2 platoons of 86 soldiers - normally a Platoon has 40 soldiers) and ocassionally he would serve as acting company First Sergeant.

Larry specialized in Test, Maintenance, Repair, & Inspection of The Pershing Missile System.

Most of his time in the military was spent on five separate tours to West Germany totalling fourteen-and-a-half years. He did spend a year at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. The only place the Pershing missiles were deployed was in Germany, hence all his time was mostly spent there.

In the spring of 1963 his army unit worked riot control during the Civil Rights uprisings in the south.

After retirement Larry was a GS-11 Instructor for Pershing Missiles.

He worked for just a year at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. He didn’t like Mississippi, and he didn’t like the Air Force.

Later he delivered auto parts in the Tri-state area.

Larry has a great-grandfather Christopher Truby that was a Colonel in the Revolutionary War.
