“Jimmy” was a firefighter in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the navy destroyer the U.S.S. Sutherland cruising to the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War.

After the military he became a civilian employee of the navy and was a fire station chief at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. Later he would become the navy’s Regional Fire Marshall over the Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News region.795
