Violet Simons, 69, of Kingwood, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at home.
She was born May 7, 1931, at Scotts Run, daughter of the late John L. and Rose Lambes Brown.
She was a member of the Kingwood Assembly of God Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Orville Simons; a foster son and spouse, Terry and Sandra Hall, of Midvale, Ohio; a foster daughter and spouse, Roxie and Gilbert Nicholson, of Point Marion, Pa.; godchildren, Geneva Dalton, Denzil Dalton and Jason Dalton, all of Brookhaven; a brother Tom Otis Brown, of Kingwood Pike; a sister, Lillian Ruth Castelli, of Point Marion, Pa.; four foster-grandchildren; and five foster-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Roy Earl Lambes, Oliver Harvey Brown, John Brown Jr., Edgar Johnston, Junior Leonard Brown, William Joseph Brown, Hunton Tiffney Brown and Burl Brown; and three sisters, Eva Olive Richards, Mary Jane Rogers and Elizabeth Brown.
Friends may call at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, with the Rev. Anthony J. Judy officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon reception will be held at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall for family and friends.
