R. Gordon

The Rev. Edward R. Gordon, 71, of Star City, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, while visiting his sister in-law, Mary Sikora, at Morgan Manor.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1932, in Beryle, W.Va., a son of the late Harry Erven Frederick Gordon and Lanella May Hoopengarner Gordon.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Artillery Division from 1954-1958.

The Rev. Gordon was retired from Sterling Faucet Co., where he had worked in the foundry.*

He was a member of New Life Ministries Church of Morgantown, and actively brought his prayer ministry to hospitals and prisons. Locally, he ministered at Morgan Manor Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Josephine Sikora Gordon; and his three children and their spouses, George and Deborah Fominko of Morgantown, Andy and Sarah Fominko of Star City, and Nancy and Randy Blosser of Morgantown. Also surviving are five grandsons and one granddaughter, Chris, Dustin, Andrew, and Matthew Fominko, Tyler Duke, and Elizabeth Marie Blosser; one brother, Orville V. Simons, of Kingwood, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken and Donald Gordon.

Friends may call from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown.

The body will be moved and lie in state from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service conducted by the Pastor Clara Wilkins on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at New Life Ministries Church.

Burial will follow at Veterans National Cemetery in Pruntytown, W.Va., with full military graveside honors.
