Elias was a farmer and belonged to the Grange. He was a Democrat and served in the 171st Pennsylvania Volunteers company I during the Civil War.
Elias married his brothers widow, Nancy Wertz Hook, after William was killed in the Civil War.
He is buried where Koon Dam* is now located. His body was moved to Centerville PA in 1931 when the Koon Dam was built. An etched bone ring he made in the war is in the possession of Paul Edward Hook Jr. his great great Grandson.
