Joseph Brinton, eldest son of William and Jane, born January 13, 1692, was first commissioned a Justice of Chester county, February, 1729, and regularly recommissioned thereafter until his death in 1751, when he was succeeded by his brother, Edward. He was also elected to the Provincial Assembly, 172Q [sic], and served in that body ten consecutive years.

He married (first), December 6, 1711. Mary Peirce, daughter of George Peirce, a native of Winscom, county Somerset, England.

Joseph Brinton married (second), April 14, 1748, Mary Elgar, but his thirteen children were all by his first wife.
