=====

Clarence was raised in the home of his maternal grandfather, Henry B. Bailey, and grew up with his aunts and uncles as siblings.

He and his uncle John Hays (known as Hays and only 1 year younger than Clarence) married sisters, Irene and Tressa (Tressie) Lines who resided on the farm adjacent to Caleb Bailey, Jr..

Clarence's mother, Mary Bailey, had not married his father, and he was raised in her father's home as a sibling of his uncles and aunts. He maintained a lifelong closeness with his uncle (John) Hays Bailey. His mother's Grandfather, Caleb Bailey, had established his homestead adjacent to the Nathan Lines farm.

These two and a few others were the founding pioneers of that part of Clearfield County, then known as Brady Township, which was later formed into the new township of Union, the boundary of which was specially laid out to include Caleb Bailey's farm (the Lines farm was on the side that fell inside the boundaries of the new township)
