A William Carr born August 1836 and died April 1865 is buried at Centre Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Hyde, Clearfield, PA. Co. E 140th PA Vol (Flag GAR 1861-1865).716

William Carr, second son of Asal Carr, also enlisted as a Union soldier in the war of the Rebellion. He was married to Jane Luzier, and before the breaking out of the war lived in Pike township. During the war he was taken prisoner and died amid the terrible scenes of the Andersonville prison pen.2143

Note: This is a very similar story to his brother Benjamin’s demise also during the Civil War.3

A William Carr, with his brothers Alexander, Benjamin and Richard, is listed among those who served in the Civil War from Curwensville in this source. In addition he is indicated to have attended the organization meeting of John Kratzer Post No. 184, Grand Army of the Republic [on July 3, 1880].824

Note: If in-fact William was killed in the Civil War, it may have been his son who attended the above meeting.3
