Abraham Bailey helped his father to clear the land in Pike Township and passed almost all of his life on the homestead, where his death occurred December 16, 1904.

At the time of his decease he was one of the large landowners of the township; having 400 acres.

Abraham Bailey was identified with the Republican party and at times served in township offices. He was a well known and highly respected man. He married Nancy Caldwell, who was bom in Pike Township, in 1814, a daughter of Alexander Caldwell, and died March 16, 1905. Both she and husband were members of the Methodist Episcopal church, of which he was a trustee and steward, and their burial was in the Center Cemetery.2214

Three of Daniel Bailey’s sons are residents of Pike township. They are Abram, Joseph and George. They all reside in the north-western section of the township, where they are large landowners and prominent citizens.3472
