Alice [Nancy Alice Bloom, Ruth’s grandmother] died (diabetes) when I was only four so I never really knew her, unfortunately. I regret that I was not interested in my forebears until recently so much information has been lost forever. I grew up in Windber, lived in Pittsburgh for about 30 years and retired to Brevard, North Carolina.2207

I regret that, as I've come to believe that I resemble her, not so much in appearance, but in personality (for lack of a better word). For reasons unknown to me (and never discussed in the family) my mother did not like Alice. Therefore she was not included in family discussions.... She had a daughter (Eva) out-of-wedlock before she married Alonzo Kline. This of course was scandalous in my Puritan mother's eyes, and that probably contributed to the strained relationship between her and Alice?? (Who knows?)2209
