When Johnston’s Army, threatened the invasion of SL [Salt Lake] Valley, in 1858, Caleb’s father was away on a mission. His mother moved the family to Lehi. Older brother Evans was twenty years old and away from home, so Caleb, age nine, drove the livestock, while his eight year old brother David, drove a wagon load of flour as they went south for the threat.
