Jim’s father Jim Sr. was Milton Avery’s (1895-1951) home teacher when Milton passed away in about 1940 in Tacoma. Jim Sr. and his companion, a brother Hofto [Thomas?], visited Milton in the hospital following his death and gave him a Priesthood blessing. Milton was restored to life and lived an additional eleven years. 275
