Elias Hilsabeck. a pioneer resident of the county, died Monday at his home at Ferguson, after an illness caused by chronic asthma. induced by the infirmities of old age. Had Mr. Hilsabeck lived until today he would have been 89 years of age. He came to Iowa in 1852. and settled on a farm near where the town of Ferguson now stands. In fact the town was built on a portion of his land, which adjoins the corporate limits. He has lived there ever since. Mr. Hilsabeck is survived by his wife and seven children - Martin Hilsabeck, of Ferguson; David Hilsabeck, who lives in California; John Hilsabeck, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. J. F. Fortner, of LeGrand; Mrs. James Finders, of Ferguson; Mrs. F. C. Manning of Perry; and Mrs. C. E. Hooven, of Chicago. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made as word is being awaited from the son in California. The Masonic fraternity of Oilman will have charge of the burial.

Mrs. Saluda Hilsabeck. aged 87. widow of Elias Hilsabeck, died at her home one half mile south of Ferguson, at 6 o' clock Sunday evening after an illness of a week of heart failure, induced by her advanced years. She had been in poor health for the past two years. Mrs. Hilsabeck was a native of Ohio, and came with her husband to Iowa in 1863. Mr. Hilsabeck died five years ago. The deceased is survived by four daughters and three sons - Mrs. Matilda Fortner, of Le Grand; Mrs. Susanna Finders. of Ferguson; Mrs. Isabel Manning. of Perry; Mrs. Lydia Hooven. of Chicago; Martin, David and John Hilsabeck. of Ferguson. Two sisters, Mrs. Parmelia Elliott, of Colfax, and Mrs. Amanda Woodmansee, of Knoxville survived the deceased.

The funeral will be held from the Christian Church at Ferguson, We4 afternoon at 2 0' clock, interment following in the Ferguson cemetery.
