BIG RUN - Carl Mays, 45, of Big Run, a former resident of Clearfield, died in the Clearfield Memorial Hospital at 4:48 a.m. today.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Margaret (Chronister) Mays; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Mays, Houtzdale; two brothers, Luther and Ward, both of Houtzdale, and a sister, Mrs. Lenore Spotts, Philipsburg.

Funeral services will be held from the Leavy Funeral Home in Clearfield Monday afternoon, August 15, at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. F. Lias, pastor of the Clearfield C. & M. A. Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening until time of the services Monday.

Margaret Marie Mays, 101

of Clearfield and most recently a resident of Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield died on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the center.

She was born on August 26, 1903 in Irvona, a daughter of the late Dorcey F. and Mary Jane (Wolf) Chronister.

Mrs. Mays worked in the homes of Dorse Albert and Bob Carns. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield where she had perfect attendance in Sunday School for 61 years. She was also the Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Women's Prayer Group.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Mays on August 13, 1949 and whom she married May 24, 1928, brothers Charles, Harold and Raymond Chronister and sisters Olive Corbin, Esther Butterbaugh and Elizabeth Hughes.

Private funeral services were held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Rev. Roger A. McBride officiating. Interment was in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Missions at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 45 Alliance Road, Clearfield.
