Sometime after 1832 a John Hill had a Woolen Mill on Filbert Street [Curwensville, PA] and this was one of the last to operate in this section. It was customary for the owner of the Factory to go about the country with his "Wool Wagon" trading finished cloth, blankets or yarn to the farmers for wool.

A John Hill is identified as a Curwensville, PA advertiser in 1875 - Steam Woolen Factory - Wooolen Goods, Satinetts, Flannels, Blankets, Stockings and Fancy Yarns, Dyeing and Scouring. [Not sure this is the same John Hill per the birth and death dates of his wife]

A John Hill 69 years old, single, born in Yorkshire, England and occupation Woolen Mfg died in Curwensville, 24 May 1896 of heart failure. Interment in Grampian on 26 May 1896.
